Question - Zelda Skyward Sword (Switch)
« on: Today at 08:36:23 am »
Now that the Zelda Skyward Sword (Switch) port has been out for a while, I was wondering if any of you have played it and if the motion controls are a thing of the past? The Wii version killed me on Nintendo hardware for nearly 2 generations. It wasn't until they announced Switch would let you play how you wanted that I gave them another look.

So... how intrusive are the motion controls in the Switch port?

From what I've briefly glanced over, most opinions concerning the game's use of motion controls are that they're less functional and regularly require recalibration. Fortunately, though, players are not bound to motion controls—motion control mode and button control mode can be freely selected at any time. However, the button control mode is exclusive to Nintendo Switch Lite systems or those playing with a Pro Controller, as mentioned on the game's back cover.

I only use the Pro Controller so that's OK. Thanks.

The Skyward Sword HD port was great because you could completely cut out the motion controls entirely and just enjoy the game.  It drastically improved the game for me compared to the Wii version. It's still not an amazing game to me, but it's wild how much just being able to play with controller made the game so much more playable.
